Three STAR Channels Head to the U.S.

HERNDON/HONG KONG,
September 3: Cox Communications has added the Hindi-language channels STAR
India PLUS, STAR India GOLD and STAR ONE to its digital cable platform in
Northern Virginia.

The launch marks STAR’s
first cable distribution deal in the U.S., and adds to Cox’s current lineup of
Indian content for viewers in Northern Virginia, which has one of the largest
South Asian populations in the country.

STAR India PLUS has been
the number one general-entertainment channel in India for eight straight years.
STAR ONE offers the next generation of Hindi entertainment, while STAR India
GOLD showcases top Bollywood movies. Each channel is available with individual
monthly subscriptions.

“The deal with Cox
Communications, which operates one of the nation’s leading cable platforms, is
an important one because it represents STAR’s first opportunity to reach out to
cable viewers in the U.S.,” said David Wisnia, STAR’s senior VP for
distribution and sales and head of STAR’s North American and European offices.
“We’re confident that South Asian cable subscribers in Northern Virginia will
thoroughly enjoy the top-rated comedies, drama series, reality shows and
Bollywood blockbusters that these three channels showcase on a daily basis.
Going forward, we are excited about the prospect of deepening our relationship
with Cox to further the distribution of our top-notch channels to other areas
throughout the country.”

“This is another exciting
opportunity to give our customers the total communications and entertainment
experience that they won’t get with other providers,” added Christine Pantoya,
Cox’s VP of marketing and sales. “Customers can watch their favorite programs,
in language, right from the comfort of their home.”
