Third Season for Weird Creatures with Nick Baker

LONDON: Icon Films has been commissioned to produce a third season of the wildlife documentary series Weird Creatures with Nick Baker for Animal Planet International and Science Channel.

The series follows presenter and naturalist Nick Baker as he travels to remote destinations to find some of the world’s most unusual creatures. He is assisted by scientists and local experts as he learns about the importance of these bizarre animals’ evolution and identifies the problems they face as they fight for survival.

The previous two seasons were commissioned by Five, Animal Planet International and ITV Global Entertainment.

Harry Marshall, the CEO of Icon Films, said: “This is incredible television, offering audiences a glimpse of nature they would never otherwise get to see. We are confident this series will follow in the footsteps of our last commission for Animal Planet U.S., River Monsters, which achieved the highest ratings in the channel’s history earlier this year.”

Dan Korn of Discovery UK added: "We’re delighted to have Nick Baker back in a new series of Weird Creatures, which is not only a very well made series but which also stands out as a natural history format with a dynamic and highly original twist."

Weird Creatures is a unique window into a fascinating world largely unseen and unknown to viewers,” commented Debbie Myers, the general manager of Science Channel U.S. “Science Channel is excited to provide a series to the U.S. audience that truly brings the science of biology to life.”
