The Seven, a global studio under Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), has entered a film and series co-development agreement with Permut Presentations, led by David Permut (Face/Off, Hacksaw Ridge).

The two companies have begun development on a Hollywood film project slated for shooting in Japan, with full-scale development and preproduction work set to commence in the U.S. Japanese producer Motoko Kimura (A Moment to Remember, LDK, Ushijima The Loan Shark), who is based in Los Angeles, joins the deal.

The Seven is helmed by Akira Morii (Mozu, Alice in Borderland, Yu Yu Hakusho), chief content officer. He joined the company in 2022.

“With a solid background in the film industry, I am truly excited to collaborate with David Permut, who has been behind the production of films I have admired since my youth,” Morii said.

Permut added, “It is a privilege and honor to be in business with Akira Morii and The Seven on a project that has global appeal, with such universal themes that relate to Asian culture.”
