TF1 2009 Revenues, Profits Down

PARIS: TF1’s 2009 revenues slipped 9 percent to 2.4 billion euros, with net profit for the group down 30 percent to 115 million euros, despite its ratings achievements in the year.

The market-leading French broadcaster reported that ad revenues on the main TF1 channel fell 13 percent to 1.4 billion euros, while other revenues were essentially flat at 936 million euros. The group did however hail its ratings achievements during the year, with a 26.1 percent audience share. The company also noted that an ad recovery is in sight, with fourth quarter ad revenues up by 1 percent to 462 million euros.

For the year, French broadcasting revenues overall were down 10 percent to 1.9 billion euros, and audiovisual rights revenues fell 13 percent to 151 million euros. International broadcasting revenues were stable at 319 million euros.
