Telemundo Appoints EVP of Network News

MIAMI: In the newly appointed role of executive VP of Telemundo Network News, Ramon Escobar will develop strategic plans for all news properties while supervising the news programming at the network.

In addition, Escobar will oversee the network’s domestic and international news bureaus as well as work to develop on-air talent and communications. He joins Telemundo from Sucherman Consulting Group, where he was VP of consulting for the last two years. Before Sucherman, Escobar was the senior executive VP of entertainment for Telemundo, leading the network’s programming and production strategy. Prior to this, he served as senior VP of news and creative services for the Telemundo Station Group.

"I’ve had the good fortune, over the past 16 years to work with Ramon and see first-hand his talent, passion, dedication to journalism and commitment to serving the US Hispanic community," said Don Browne, Telemundo’s president, to whom Escobar will report. "His extensive experience in journalism and his ability to understand the rapidly evolving, multimedia world of news and information position him perfectly to lead our news organization into the future."
