Syfy Names Original Programming SVP

NEW YORK: Andrew Plotkin has been named senior VP of original programming at Syfy, reporting to Mark Stern, the executive VP of original programming at the cable network and the co-head of original content at Universal Cable Productions.

 

Plotkin began his TV career at Rysher Entertainment, where he rose up the ranks from intern to VP of creative affairs. He later went on to Warner Bros. Television, serving as VP of drama development, before setting up Class IV Productions with Steve Pearlman. The independent production company was based at Warner Bros. Television. Most recently, Plotkin was as an executive producer to China’s CCTV, developing new production models designed to blend Western production values with Chinese content and sensibilities.

Stern said of the new appointment: "His entrepreneurial background, outstanding track record in developing unique, quality programming, and rock solid reputation with the creative community will be enormous assets as we continue to expand Syfy’s original programming."
