HONG KONG: The second season of the reality show Supermodelme is set to debut on March 17, exclusively on Tiger Gate Entertainment’s KIX channel, which is currently available in Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia.

Supermodelme, which is co-produced by Tiger Gate in Hong Kong and Refinery Media in Singapore, features 12 aspiring Asian models competing in a number of physically and mentally challenging tasks. Charmaine Harn, a Singaporean supermodel, hosts the show, and the aspiring models work with renowned photographers from the region. Each week, a panel of judges decides which competitor to send home. The series’ winner will receive $20,000 along with thousands of dollars worth of prizes, as well as be featured on fashion magazine covers and appear in other Tiger Gate productions.

Describing Supermodelme’s new-media approach, Jef Lim, Tiger Gate’s head of production, called it an “integrated 360-degree approach with multimedia platforms in mind: linear, on-air, mobile, and web. We firmly believe in supporting original Asian concepts that span both traditional and new media.”

William Pfeiffer, the CEO of Tiger Gate Entertainment, said: “We are delighted to be working with Karen Seah and Refinery Media. It was always our intention to develop closer ties with Singapore—to encourage locally conceived and produced content. The long-term goal of the collaboration is to further develop and produce unique made-in-Asia formats for distribution throughout the region and the rest of the world. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Refinery Media with Supermodelme season three which is already under development.”

Karen Seah, Supermodelme’s executive producer, commented: “Through Supermodelme, Refinery Media together with Tiger Gate Entertainment aims to showcase Asia’s rising talent in production, photography, fashion and music for the program. Our goal is to position Supermodelme as a platform to showcase our Asian capabilities yet still appeal to the global arena with the input from international guests and judges.”

Lim added: “We saw that it was an exciting project and building off the success of the first season, we quadrupled the budget and brought in our production expertise to take it to the next level.”
