Studio100 to Open Animation Studio

BENELUX: Studio100 has plans to launch a new Paris-based animation studio, Studio100 Animation, with Jo Daris heading up the operation.

The new studio is part of the company’s overall development strategy to grow its business in the animation sector through self-funding as well as seeking out co-finance and project development opportunities. It will focus on and specialize in cartoons for the whole family, both with classic remakes and original creations and will be at the forefront in animation technology. Studio100 Animation will initially have a production capacity of two animations per year, kicking off with Super Mega Hyper Pets, a new joint venture with Canada’s Amberwood Productions, and Rescue 4U with Magma Films in Ireland.

As general manager, Daris will spearhead all activities within Studio100 Animation. Jan Van Rijsselberge will take on the role of creative officer. Rijsselberge will oversee the development of all new brands and will also work on a make-over of the existing Studio100 IP. Djamila Missoum comes to Studio100 Animation as line producer and will be structuring and coordinating the various productions. Thorsten Wegener takes on the role of head of business affairs for Studio100 Animation. His remit includes production, business development and all financial activities.

Daris commented, "This is a very exciting time for Studio100 Animation. This move re-affirms Studio100’s commitment to excel as a worldwide operation dedicated to producing quality-driven, positive and non-violent programming devoted to children and family entertainment. It’s not only great to be working in a productive environment but also in one that has talented, accomplished and creative executives who are all passionate about animation."
