Strong Revenue Gains for Discovery International Nets

SILVER SPRING: Discovery Communications’ international networks posted a 20-percent revenue gain in the second quarter to $368 million, while the U.S. network revenues were up 6 percent to $660 million.

The international networks posted strong ad revenues gains, rising 25 percent to $132 million. Distribution revenues, meanwhile, were up to $220 million from $186 million, an 18-percent increase. The adjusted OIBDA at the international networks gained 31 percent to $173 million.

At the U.S. networks, advertising revenues gained 10 percent to $361 million, while distributed revenues were up by 4 percent to $273 million. Adjusted OIBDA rose 4 percent to $395 million.

Overall revenues at Discovery increased 11 percent to $1.07 billion, while net profit was up to $254 million from $106 million. For the full year, the company anticipates revenues of between $4.08 billion and $4.18 billion and a net profit of $1 billion to $1.08 billion.
