StarHub Unveils Malay Entertainment Channel

SINGAPORE, July 25: Cable platform StarHub is launching
Sensasi, an entertainment channel targeted to Singapore’s Malay community, on
its digital tier on August 7.

Sensasi, which means “sensation” in Malay, will be offered
to digital subscribers for an additional S$6 per month. StarHub will donate 10
percent of its share of Sensasi’s ad revenues to the Pertapis Children's Home
until the end of 2009.

Sensasi will carry at least six hours of first-run shows and
18 hours of programming daily. Prime time, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., will feature
a different thematic block every night; family-oriented shows on Mondays,
variety on Tuesdays, period dramas and action movies on Wednesdays,
horror-themed titles on Thursdays, romantic dramas and comedies on Fridays and
blockbuster movies over the weekend. Titles include Mimpi Manis, Macam
Macam Aznil, Susuk, Ratapan Anak Tiri
and the teen drama Dunia Baru. The bulk of the programs
on the channel come from television networks and content distributors from
Indonesia and Malaysia. StarHub, through Content Network Asia, is also
exploring partnerships with local production firms to produce some Malay
content locally.

Tham Loke Kheng, StarHub’s senior VP for content and
marketing, noted: “Clearly, there is a strong desire among the Malay community
in Singapore for more Malay entertainment choices, and we are more than happy
to oblige. Audiences can expect compelling, vibrant content, including a
plethora of first-run and highly rated programs from around the region. We
anticipate that the channel will not only win fans from among our local Malay
viewers, but also strike a chord with the significant number of Malaysians and
Indonesians residing in Singapore.”
