SPTI’s Power of 10 Posts Strong Ratings in India

HONG KONG, June 20: The
Asian premiere of Sony Pictures Television International's (SPTI) game-show
format Power of 10 notched up
strong ratings on Sony Entertainment Television (SET) in India, drawing more
than 16 million viewers in the first two days of its launch.

Airing as 10 Ka Dum, the show premiered on June 6 on SET, winning its
regular 9 to 10 p.m. time slot on Friday and Saturday nights with a peak TVR of
5.4 in all cable and satellite households, excluding South, and a 13.5-percent
audience share on Friday.

Created by Michael Davies
of Embassy Row Productions, Power of 10 is a studio-based game show in which contestants put their knowledge
of public thinking and opinion to the test. Using questions based on
large-scale professional polling results, Power of 10 covers all aspects of each country’s thoughts on
topics ranging from politics to pop culture.

Since its debut on CBS in
August 2007, Power of 10 has
been licensed into more than 25 countries. In addition to India, SPTI also
signed an agreement with VTL Marketing in Vietnam, which will produce Power
of 10
for Ho Chi Minh Television
(HTV). The show will be hosted locally by Hong Quang Minh, an award-winning
comedian, writer and director.

Power of 10 has proven to be an ideal format for localization
around the world and its success on SET in India is a testament to the show’s
appeal in this region as well,” said Mary Chan, SPTI’s VP of production in
Asia. “The casting of high-caliber hosts such as the great Salman Khan,
combined with a fun and suspenseful game which audiences of all demographics
can play along, creates a winning formula adaptable to any culture.”
