SPTI Inks Format Deals for Power of 10

CULVER CITY, January 28:
Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has secured a number of format
deals for the hit U.S. game show Power of 10 across Europe, Asia and Latin America.

SPTI has reached
agreements for local versions of Power of 10 with Telefe in Argentina, TV Globo in Brazil, RCN
in Colombia, TV2 in Denmark, Gil Productions for Reshet in Israel, MBC in the
Middle East, TV Norge in Norway, Channel 1 in Russia and Kanal 5 in Sweden. These
deals add to previous agreements for the format, including Nine Network in
Australia, Chilevision in Chile, TF1 in France and Mega in Greece.

The show’s recent debut on
Channel 1 in Russia attracted 4.1 million viewers, with a 6.2 rating, and the
following week delivered a 25-percent increase in ratings.

Created by Michael Davies
of Embassy Row Productions, Power of 10 is a studio-based game show which puts contestant’s knowledge of
public opinion to the test by asking questions based on large-scale
professional polling results. The questions cover all aspects of each country’s
thoughts on everything from politics to pop culture, and contestants will win a
cash prize that increases by the power of 10 as the show progresses.

Each version of Power
of 10
will be produced locally
using surveys customized for that country. Local hosts will be announced by
each broadcaster at a later time, and airdates will vary from country to
country.

Davies, who is also the
executive producer for the show, commented, “I am blown away by the reaction of
international broadcasters to Power of 10 and so excited by the excellent launch in Russia. In the next few
weeks I will be traveling to Australia and Europe to supervise the continued
rollout of the program and to meet with many more producers and channels who
are already completely sold on the format for their markets. We have tremendous
momentum and expect many more deals in the next couple of months.”
