Southern Star Beefs Up Drama Output with New Hire

SYDNEY, November 1:
Southern Star Entertainment is aiming to expand its drama output with a new
hire: Julie McGauran, who has been the series producer of the popular show Home
and Away
for the past five years.

McGauran will develop new
projects for Australian free-to-air and pay-TV networks and international
broadcasters and will collaborate with Southern Star’s John Edwards.

“I’ve loved working on Home
and Away
and I want to use the
knowledge I’ve obtained there to develop and create different dramas,” says
McGauran, who has overseen more than 1,000 episodes of the hit serial. “I’m
looking forward to the new opportunities and to working with John.”

“Julie is an enormously talented
young creative executive,” says Hugh Marks, the chief executive of the Southern
Star Group. “Her joining Southern Star is another exciting step in our
investment in the future of our TV drama business.”
