Brisk Business at MIPCOM for Icon

BARCELONA, November 1:
Icon Animation has reported a raft of sales following MIPCOM.

The Spanish production and
distribution company that specializes in children’s programming closed several
deals for its girl-skewing property Lola &
Virginia
. The animated series consisting
of 52 11-minute episodes has been picked up by RTP in Portugal and by Israel’s
Noga Communication for its The Children Channel.

Lola &
Virginia
was also sold
to the pay TV service Canal Panda in Portugal, which in addition bought Icon
Animation’s healthy eating series Vitaminix and other television series including The
Edebits, 64 Zoo Lane

and The Hydronauts.
Canal Panda has also snapped up Supertramps, Gulp! A Waste Side Story and Crab Island from Icon Animation’s catalogue of animated
family features.

Icon also
closed a deal with the new Spanish children’s broadcaster KITZ TV, which bought more than 100 hours of
programming to spearhead its November launch. The deal includes well-known
titles such as Postman Pat, Hilltop Hospital and Boohbah, which are represented by Icon Animation for Spain.

Other Icon Animation
titles acquired by KITZ include: Olympig from Maga Animation; Lazy Lucy, Loui, 64 Zoo Lane, Pablo the Little Red Fox, The Gnoufs and Planet Grabo from
Millimages, and Meme & Mr Bobo
from its own catalogue.
