Singaporean Platform Adds Asian Drama Channel

SINGAPORE, October 17: SingTel’s mio TV is launching a new
Chinese-language outlet, Mei Ah Drama Channel, which is dedicated to drama
series from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea.

Mei Ah Drama is the first 24-hour drama channel in Singapore
that features such a wide variety of Asian dramas, with all shows airing with a
dual-language option. Korean and Japanese dramas will feature a Mandarin option
and more than 50 percent of the shows will include English subtitles.

Each series will run from Monday to Friday in two or three
slots a day. Every weekend the network will feature all five episodes of each
drama.

Programs set to air include Tokyo Juliet and Honey and Clover from Taiwan, which are adapted from popular animation
series, as well as Iryu Team Medical
Dragon, a popular Japanese manga,
and Yamada Taro Monogatari,
starring members of the Japanese boy band Arashi.

“Idol dramas adapted from Manga have proven to be popular
with the TV audience in Singapore, and the addition of Mei Ah Drama Channel
will definitely up the ante in providing greater choice for our customers,”
said Low Ka Hoe, the director of mio TV and content. “Over the past year, mio TV has introduced channels
featuring a variety of Asian content and our dialect and multi-language channels
have been so far been very well-received.“
