Silverback Receives Commission from TV3 in Sweden

STOCKHOLM, August 27: Silverback, formerly Talpa
Scandinavia, has received a commission for its new musical talent format West
End Star
from TV3 in Sweden, which plans to
air the series this fall.

The format, spanning nine episodes, will be produced by
Silverback for TV3. West End Star searches
for a new female lead to fill in the vacant role of “Lady of the Lake,” in Spamalot,
a Tony Award-winning musical based on Monty
Python and the Holy Grail
. The female who
wins the competition will make her debut in the role at the Palace Theatre in
London in the beginning of next year.

Anna Carrfors Bråkenhielm, the CEO
of Silverback, commented: “Spamalot is
a great musical—comedy at it’s best. I’m confident that the TV show will
be as exciting and fun. We are right now teaming up with producers and broadcasters
in key European countries to find their leading ladies.”

Silverback was originally founded
as Talpa Scandinavia by Anna Carrfors Bråkenhielm on behalf of John de Mol, and
began operations in Sweden in April 2006. Bråkenhielm and previous majority
owner Talpa Media Holding agreed on a management buy-out in May 2007, which
resulted in a rebranding of the company to Silverback.
