SCI FI, Sundance Launch Online Film Competition

NEW YORK, October 3: SCI FI Channel and Sundance Channel are
collaborating on Exposure, an eight-week short film competition that will see
the best eight entries broadcast as part of a SCI FI Channel special.

SCIFI.COM and SundanceChannel.com are now accepting
submissions of up-and-coming filmmakers’ 2-8 minute sci-fi, horror or fantasy
shorts. The best submissions will be showcased online each week, and the eight
finalists, determined by viewers, will be featured in an on-air SCI FI special.
The winner will be awarded a trip to New York City to pitch a project to SCI FI
Channel’s Pictures Group.

Entries are being accepted through November 20. Online
voting begins October 23 and runs through December 17.

“Exposure is the perfect way to harness the new movement of
ordinary people creating extraordinary videos for the web, and it also lets us
harness the most knowledgeable people on the planet—SCI FI Channel and
Sundance Channel viewers—to help us find the best filmmakers out there,”
said Craig Engler, the SVP of SCIFI.COM and SCI FI Magazine. “We couldn’t ask for a better
partner than Sundance Channel to help make an independent filmmaker’s dream
become a reality.”

Christopher Barry, the VP of digital media and business
strategy at Sundance Channel, added, “This collaboration represents a fresh
look at the sci-fi, horror and fantasy genres and we look forward to featuring
creative and innovative content across both online communities.”
