Rose d’Or Winners Announced

LUCERNE, May 6: British programs led the pack in wins at the
48th annual Rose d’Or Festival, with the U.S., Switzerland and the Netherlands
also taking home Golden Roses.

From a record 402 programs, entered by 181 companies across
34 countries, eight winners were selected to receive Golden Roses, with Ben
Silverman, the co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios,
taking home the 2008 Honorary Rose.

Strictly
Bolshoi
, from
Channel 4, won the award for best arts documentary, while Kombat Opera
PresentsÂ…
, from the
BBC, took home the win in the comedy category and was also named the Best of
2008.

In the drama category, the one-hour series Skins, from E4, scored the win, and a special mention went
to The Street II, from the BBC.

Hinder In the House,
which airs on BBC Two, was given a Golden Rose for entertainment program, with Power
of 10
, from Sony Pictures Television
International, winning in the game show category.

Mozart’s Magic Flute-Onstage and Backstage, from Schweizer Fernsehen (Swiss Television), won in the performing arts
category. The Phone,
from the Netherlands’ Park Lane TV Productions, picked up the award for best
reality program, while Channel 4’s The IT Crowd was given the award in the sitcom category. The
Golden Rose for best entertainer went to Peter Serafinowicz of the BBC’s The Peter Serafinowicz Show.
