Romance TV Set for 24-Hour Launch on Premiere Star

MUNICH, December 21: Romance TV, a new 24-hour channel
featuring romantic TV movies, telenovelas, feature films and series, will
launch on the Premiere Star platform in prime-time on February 14, 2008.

The lion’s share of Romance TV’s programming will consist of
German-language productions, rounded out by romantic comedies and dramas from
Hollywood and Bollywood studios. Highlights to the channel’s schedule include
large-scale productions such as Das
Traumschiff
and
screen adaptations of the Rosamunde Pilcher novels, beloved series such as Die
Schwarzwaldklinik

and Mallorca–Suche nach dem Paradies, as well as popular telenovelas such as Julia-Wege
zum Glück
, Bianca–Wege
zum Glück
and Tessa–Leben
für die Liebe
. Romantic
comedies, including Nur ein kleines bisschen Schwanger and Wie küsst man einen Millionär, will also be a part of the channel’s lineup.

Gottfried
Zmeck, the chairman of the board of Mainstream Media, commented: “Romance TV
will make pay TV more attractive to women. The channel will focus far more on
female viewers than other channels on German television do at present. Quality
productions that explore modern-day emotions will form the core product of the
Romance TV program.”

Wolfram
Winter, the managing director of Premiere Star, added: “Romance TV is the
eighteenth channel in the Premiere Star package. The new channel will increase
Premiere Star’s appeal to women in particular. After all, formats like Die
Schwarzwaldklinik
, Traumschiff and the Rosamunde Pilcher
adaptations are a sure hit for true romantics—not only on St. Valentine’s
Day!”
