Register Inks First-Look Deal with Cartoon Network

NEW YORK,
November 20: Cartoon Network has signed veteran animation executive and creator
Sam Register to a first-look deal to develop programming.

The deal was
announced by Jim Samples, executive VP and general manager for Cartoon Network,
and encompasses both kids and adult programming.
“Sam brings a talent and vision to the world of animation and programming that
fits our sensibilities perfectly,” said Samples. “He has a successful and
proven track record with Cartoon Network as a development executive with
prominent projects from Ben 10 and Teen Titans to My Gym Partner is a Monkey, and we are thrilled to be continuing
our relationship with him in this capacity.”
Previously, Register served as senior VP, development, for Cartoon Network and
was responsible for overseeing development and production of original,
action-oriented animated programming for the cable service. Projects
included the series Ben 10, My Gym Partner is a Monkey, PPGZ, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, as well as Star Wars: Clone Wars animated shorts, produced in
partnership with Lucasfilm, and the Warner Bros. half-hour series Teen
Titans
, Justice
League Unlimited
, The
Batman
and Duck
Dodgers
.
Register also once served as senior VP of content development, where he worked
to develop new programming and feature films around third-party assets. Prior
to that, he was the first employee and eventual VP of Cartoon Network Online.
He came to Cartoon Network from San Francisco-based Colossal Pictures.
