Regent Aligns with Canada’s Image in Media

LOS
ANGELES, April 16: Montreal-based Image in Media will produce at least two
films per year for distribution by Regent Worldwide Sales as part of a new
alliance between the two companies.

Gene
George, the president of Regent Worldwide Sales, will showcase the initial two
new titles at MIPTV this week. “These films reflect our efforts to bring
quality movies to the marketplace and keep our product line focused,” said
George. “We are totally committed to bring to the worldwide marketplace the
best TV movies in the action/disaster, thriller and family/holiday genres and
these films fulfill our goals in that area”.

Lava
Storm is the story of a family who must work together to escape a volcanic
event and impeding eruption that could bring an end to mankind. Pre-production
is expected to begin in June. Tidal Surge is about a couple’s fight to save
their beachside home from a tidal wave that could destroy the entire city. Both
films are currently being cast. Regent has already finalized three deals on the
films with TF1 in France, Telecinco in Spain and AMG in Japan.

The
additional films also reflect an increased effort on Regent’s part to expand
its acquisitions and supply base. Previously, Regent Worldwide secured the
majority of its distribution slate from sister production company Regent
Studios. “We fully expect to continue to receive a solid flow of films from
Regent Studios due to our strong production relationships with U.S.
broadcasters such as Lifetime and ABC Family,” George continued. “However, due to
our position now in the marketplace as a significant supplier, we are able to
expand our pipeline and handle more than our own product. We are so excited
about our new relationship with Image in Media, and this is one of several
deals we plan to announce this year in this area.”

Last
year, Regent Worldwide acquired three films from Canadian production company
Blueprint Entertainment, and Regent handled all international rights to those
movies, which were also produced for Lifetime Television.
