Redstone Settles Suit with Estranged Son

NEW YORK, February 5: Brent Redstone, the estranged son of
Sumner Redstone, the chairman of CBS Corporation and Viacom, has settled the
law suit he brought against the family business, National Amusements, last year,
according to the New York Times.

Last February, the younger Redstone filed suit against
National Amusements seeking a court ruling on the dissolution of the company so
that he could cash out his 17-percent interest. Brent Redstone’s interest was
said to be held within a trust that he could not access, and he was said to be
restricted from selling it to anyone else apart from his family.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed. The New
York Times
reported today that the
settlement included the buyback of the 17-percent stake by the company. Sumner
Redstone now owns about 80 percent of National Amusements. His daughter Shari
owns the remaining 20 percent.
