Red Bee Media Restructures Business Development Unit

LONDON, May 15: As part of the
restructuring of its business development unit, Red Bee Media has appointed
Karl Stone to the head of business development for Piero—the company’s
3-D sports graphics technology—and Neil McLaren to the head of business
development for media management.

The two new appointments follow
John Phipps’ appointment in February to the role of director of sales. In his
new role, Stone will work on sales of Piero, Red Bee Media’s multi-award
winning 3-D sports graphics technology. Piero is being used by broadcasters
around the world in their analysis of football and rugby games, and is
currently being adapted for a variety of sports. Prior to Red Bee Media, Stone
worked on selling the entire range of
Leitch products in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

In his new role, McLaren will
work on developing Digital Hive, Red Bee Media’s one-stop-shop to help clients
get content onto new platforms including mobile devices and broadband/IPTV.
Prior to his appointment, McLaren was at Harris Corporation, where he marketed
software systems in the EMEA region. He has also previously worked at Arkemedia
(part of Encoda Systems), where he successfully sold and marketed digital asset
management to rights holders and platform owners.

In addition, as part of the
restructure, Kay Hutchison has been named the director of partnerships at Red
Bee Media, where she will now be focused on building partnerships with
companies to provide innovative solutions to its clients. Hutchison has worked
at the company since 2003, helping to commercialize BBC Broadcast (Red Bee
Media’s former name) and build the current client management team.
