Record Screenings Anticipated for AFM

LOS ANGELES, October 5: The 27th American Film Market (AFM),
set for November 1 to 8, will open with a record 589 films, a 10 percent
increase over last year’s 534 films, including 384 market premieres.

AFM has also launched a new website, www.afmfilms.org, which
hosts the AFM Catalogue of Films, a year-round industry resource. From projects
in the early stages of development to finished films, the AFM Catalogue of
Films is a directory of thousands of projects and films that users can search
by genre, language, production and financing status, as well as obtain
information on co-production opportunities. Further, the AFM is working with Google Video to host
trailers.

“Over the past three years the number of films screening at
the AFM has increased 50 percent and the market will continue to grow to meet
the needs of the expanding global independent film industry,” said
Jonathan Wolf, the EVP of the Independent Film & Television Alliance and MD
of the AFM.
