qubo Calls for More qubopics

NEW YORK: Between now and April 30, aspiring filmmakers can create mini animated movies and submit them for consideration to debut this summer on qubo as well as on qubo’s broadcast blocks on NBC, ION Television and Telemundo.

Using the storytelling web application called Zimmer Twins, user-generated contented can be created at qubo.com. Fifteen films will be selected to be professionally adapted into fully animated mini movies and screened on national TV.

Last fall, nearly 50,000 "qubopic" films were created, and the channel selected 12 to be adapted. The qubopics were broadcast on qubo and its broadcast blocks from December 2008 to February 2009. An additional 66,000 Zimmer Twins films have been created on qubo.com in the past few months, with more than 110,000 original user-generated animated films now posted on qubo’s site.

“We were thrilled with the response to our first round of qubopic premieres and can’t think of a better way to honor and thank our viewers than by launching a second effort,” said Rick Rodriguez, the president and general manager of qubo. “We are proud to showcase the creativity of these talented children on our air.
