MUNICH/HEIDELBERG: ProSiebenSat.1 and Kabel BW have entered into a long-term partnership for the carriage of free- and pay-TV channels as well as VOD services, for both SD and HD.

Customers of the cable network operator now have access, for the first time, to Sat.1 HD, ProSieben HD, kabel eins HD and sixx HD. The deal also allows for future access to the VOD content of the ProSiebenSat.1 group via Kabel BW Videothek. Free-TV is part of the agreement as well, along with the inclusion of two pay-TV services: Sat.1 Comedy and kabel eins Classics. The female-skewed channel sixx launched in July on the analogue Kabel BW cable network. Kabel BW customers can gain access to the HD channels from ProSiebenSat.1 Group with the MeinTV HD Plus programming package.

Conrad Albert, the general counsel of ProSiebenSat.1 Group, said: "The new agreement with Kabel BW enables an even larger number of our viewers to enjoy the reception of our HD-broadcasts and their crystal clear images. At the same time, this long-term, directional agreement serves to secure the distribution of our broadcasts and to concurrently expand the reach of our Video-on-Demand products."

"We are delighted by this encompassing agreement with the ProSiebenSat.1 Group. It is precisely the high resolution channels of the broadcast-group which enrich our large HD offering and our programming package MeinTV HD Plus enormously," added Harald Rösch, Kabel BW’s chief executive.
