Production Begin on New Canwest Drama

TORONTO: Principal photography is under way on the new 13-part Canadian drama Cra$h & Burn from Whizbang Films, in association with Canwest, for launch on Showcase this November.

Created by Malcolm MacRury (ZOS: Zone of Separation, Deadwood), the series is being billed as a cross between The Office and The Sopranos as it focuses on a young claims adjuster for a cut-throat, bottom-line insurance corporation who maneuvers his way around insurance scams and the criminal underworld as he tries to escape his past and make a better life on the streets of Hamilton.

The executive producers are Paul Gross, Frank Siracusa, and Malcolm MacRury, and the cast includes Luke Kirby, Leela Savasta, Caroline Cave, Clark Johnson and Steve Bacic. Cra$h & Burn is developed and produced by Whizbang Films in association with Canwest. It is produced with the participation of the Cogeco Program Development Fund, The Rogers Cable Network Fund, the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
