Producer Sentenced Over Fake TV Show

LOS ANGELES, December 5: Producer Joseph Medawar has been sentenced
to a year in prison after taking millions of dollars from people who believed
he was producing a government-backed drama about the Department of Homeland
Security.

Charges were filed against Medawar earlier this year. He is
said to have received financing from about 50 investors for DHS: The Series, claiming it had the full support of the White
House, was in post-production on 26 episodes and had been licensed into more
than 130 international markets.

He needs to repay $3.46 million to the cheated investors,
and must put in 3,000 hours of community service, in addition to his one year
behind bars.

On IMDb.com, Medawar is listed as a producer on the
features Sleepwalker (1992) and Champions
Forever
(1990).
