Portfolio Sells 200 Hours of Culinary Programs

TORONTO: Titles from Portfolio Entertainment’s slate of food-based offerings such as Everyday Exotic, Chef Abroad and French Food at Home have notched up new international sales.

Discovery Networks Asia went for 39 half-hour episodes of Everyday Exotic, which features a different distinctive seasoning in each installment. The Living Channel in New Zealand took the first season of 26 episodes.

Chef Abroad watches as Michael Smith explores new food frontiers in locations such as Egypt, Japan and Sweden. Discovery Networks Asia, Travel Channel Europe and Cuisine TV in France all signed on for the 26 half-hour episodes in seasons one and two. Canal + Cyfrowy/Kuchnia TV in Poland opted for the first season of 13 episodes, along with Michael Smith’s one-hour holiday special Mountain Magic. Chef at Home follows Smith into his home kitchen as he creates simple meals from the ingredients in his refrigerator. Menu TV in Ukraine acquired three seasons, totaling 79 half-hour episodes. The Asian Food Channel has renewed the first two seasons of 52 episodes for Southeast Asia, including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. The Asian Food Channel also renewed Chef at Large for a fifth season of 13 episodes.

In French Food at Home, host Laura Calder serves up everything from French bistro desserts to savory tarts to sautés. The first season of 26 half-hour episodes went to Canal + Cyfrowy/Kuchnia TV in Poland, Elle TV in Korea and Ananey Communications in Israel.

A package of 26 half-hours of It’s Just Food went to Pyramid Entertainment Exports in Kuwait. The show teaches basic tips, terms and techniques needed to prepare a simple and nutritious meal.
