Portfolio Closes Deals on Tween Animated Series

TORONTO, March 27: Portfolio Entertainment has notched
several new deals on Carl2 and has
licensed RoboRoach into the U.S.
with Animania HD.

Animania HD is a high-definition animation channel operated
by VOOM HD Networks. The outlet has acquired 26 episodes of the show, which has
already been sold to Jetix Europe and currently airs on Teletoon Canada. The
series is produced by Portfolio Entertainment and distributed by Portfolio
International in North America. Buena Vista International Television handles
all remaining territories. The 52×30-minute show follows the story of Rube, who
becomes RoboRoach, half-robot half-cockroach, and his brother Reg.

Portfolio’s other key tween animation, Carl2, meanwhile, has been acquired by ABC and ABC2 in
Australia, VRT in Belgium and Canal + Cyfrowy in Poland.

ABC Australia has picked up seasons two and three, totaling
26 half-hour episodes. ABC2 has acquired all three seasons for a total of 52
half-hour episodes. VRT renewed Carl2 for
season two following its acquisition of season one in October 2006. And Canal +
Cyfrowy renewed for seasons two and three to the Q2 2006 acquisition of the
entire first season.

“The expansion of our sales into Australia and the renewals
in Belgium and Poland underscore our belief that Carl2 resonates with tween
audiences as they face similar situations with friends, family and teen
heartache as they easily relate to the fresh perspectives that Carl2 has to offer,” said Joy Rosen, the founder and
president of Portfolio Entertainment.

Carl2 already airs on
Nickelodeon Germany, Jetix in the Netherlands, and Noga in Israel. It follows
the adventures of a slacker teen named Carl Crashman who accidentally generates
his own clone after venting about his life in his online journal.
