Poland to See Penoza Local Adaptation

LONDON: Canal+ Poland has commissioned an eight-episode local adaptation of the crime thriller Penoza from Endemol Poland.

Endemol recently began internationally distributing Penoza as a scripted format. The deal marks the first time Canal+ Poland and Endemol have partnered together in the territory. The series was created and produced by Endemol-owned NL Film and produced by Alain de Levita. Penoza is now in production for a second season in the Netherlands on KRO channel NED3. Season one launched on NED2 in September 2010. Penoza is about a woman whose husband is murdered while doing business with organized crime. She wants to find her husband’s killer and beat the gangsters at their own game.

Ryszard Sibilski, the managing director of Endemol Poland, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Canal+ Poland for the first time. Penoza has gripped the TV audience in the Netherlands with its heart stopping pace, intelligent plot lines and captivating characters. We believe viewers in Poland are in for a treat.”

Beata Ryczkowska, the programming director of Canal+ Poland, added, "The original and involving script has been a terrific inspiration in terms of adaptation. When we add to it an excellent directors and a promising cast, a truly gripping story is guaranteed.”
