Planet Green Programming On Offer

CANNES, October 12: Available for the first time at MIPCOM,
programming from Discovery Communications’ eco-dedicated network Planet Green
features 250-plus hours of original fare.

Launched in June, Planet Green reaches more than 50 million
homes in the U.S. and is also available as a programming block in Asia, Latin America
and the U.K. Programming highlights include Battleground Earth: Ludacris vs.
Tommy Lee
, a ten-episode series featuring hip-hop
rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and rock musician Tommy Lee as they travel
across the U.S. fighting pollution by giving their tours an eco-focus. Also in
the catalogue is G-Word, a daily
series on Planet Green that features eco-minded experts who share ideas and
solutions that everyone can use.

Executive produced by Pilgrim Films and Television and
Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, the 13-part series Greensburg chronicles the rebirth of a Kansas Town into an
environment-conscious city. From the producers of TLC’s Flip That
House
comes Greenovate. The series highlights home improvements that can
help cut down on energy bills and reduce carbon footprints. Also with a
green-home theme is Renovation Nation. In this daily series, host Steve Thomas visits renovation sites across the country and meets the eco-sensitive
homeowners who are making the choice
to go green.

“Planet Green is bringing the green movement into people’s
homes through lifestyle content that entertains and engages, and we will
partner with third-party broadcasters to share this innovative programming with
audiences around the world who are hungry to better understand green living,”
said Caleb Weinstein, the senior VP of Discovery Enterprises International.
