Peanuts Halloween Special Takes Center Stage in New Book

MUNICH: A recently released hard-cover book, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: The Making of a Television Classic, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the iconic Peanuts Halloween special, which first aired in 1966.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: The Making of a Television Classic was published by Dey Street Books last month. The book sees executive producer Lee Mendelson reminisce with original Peanuts animator Bill Melendez about working with Charles M. Schulz and selling the show to the network, among other things. It includes more than 250 color images, the full script from the special, photographs, storyboard excerpts and production materials.

The book also features interviews with the actors who voiced the original Peanuts characters, as well as Vince Guaraldi's original scores for The Great Pumpkin Waltz and Red Baron.
