Parthenon, BASE Partner for New HD Productions

LONDON, June 25: Parthenon Entertainment has teamed up with
the U.S.-based BASE Productions on two HD factual entertainment titles: Superhuman and Sport Science.

Parthenon has made a significant investment in both shows
and is distributing them internationally. The 13×1-hour Sport Science series has already been pre-sold to Fox Sports Net
(FSN) in the U.S., and marks the largest single-series investment that FSN has
ever made. The 2×1-hour Superhuman has
been pre-sold to the National Geographic Channel in the U.S. and National
Geographic Channels International. Parthenon hopes to secure additional sales
for the series with broadcasters around the world who are already starting to
put together their schedules for the 2008 Olympics.

Sport Science looks
at the international sports world through the prism of science, exploring the
extremes of human ability and performance through first-person exploits. The
series uses CGI motion-capture techniques, high-definition footage and the
first-ever use of phantom HD high-speed cameras on television. Scheduled for
delivery in November, Superhuman
looks at the science behind human strength and power, separating performance
myth from scientific fact. Superhuman features the contestants of The World’s Strongest Man, who rely on
natural methods such as strict diets and years of hard work to build their
bodies to a competition level, as well as those who take the unnatural approach
to human sizing by using steroids.

This is the second time Parthenon Entertainment and BASE
Productions have worked together. Parthenon is already the international
distributor on two seasons of BASE Productions’ Fight Science.

Carl Hall, the managing director of Parthenon Entertainment,
commented: “We are very pleased to be partnering with BASE Productions again.
Parthenon has a history of working with the best U.S. producers and Base brings
a level of innovation, creativity and energy to the screen that makes their
shows must-haves internationally. These series will slot perfectly into
broadcasters’ 2008 Olympic coverage.”
