Outright Inks International Deals for Ranking the Stars

LONDON, August 21: Ranking the Stars, a format distributed by Outright Distribution, has
been licensed for a first run on Belgium’s VTM and a second season on BNN (on
Ned 3) in the Netherlands, and has been optioned in seven other territories.

Those who have optioned the format include Spanish
production house Globomedia, Italy’s RTI Mediaset, Sweden’s Eyeworks
International, Norwegian broadcaster TV Norge, Danish production company
Mastiff and Australian broadcaster Nine Network. Production company MME also
produced a pilot of the show for a German broadcaster that has not yet been
announced.

Ranking the Stars is
a chat format from Japan’s TV Asahi in which 10 famous panelists “back-stab”
one another when asked to rank each other on a variety of humorous topics. One
of the panelists is then asked to reveal their own rankings in front of
everyone else. One hundred people in the street are also given the opportunity
to humiliate a celebrity by also ranking the panelists.

Chris Bonney, Outright’s CEO, commented: “Ranking the
Stars
is a hilarious format which works in
any language so it’s great to see it showing healthy sales in a wide range of
territories.”
