LONDON: Global online TV and video revenues are set to reach $42.34 billion in 2020, up from the $3.96 billion recorded in 2010 and the $19.03 billion expected for this year, according to Digital TV Research.

The U.S. is expected to remain the dominant OTT TV territory; however, its share of total revenues will decline from 59 percent in 2010 to 37 percent in 2020, delivering $15.5 billion. This is because international markets are starting to catch up. China's online TV and video revenues are forecast to soar from $37 million in 2010 to $3.03 billion in 2020. This will push China into third place, with Japan in second place.

Rapid ad expenditure growth will also continue, forecast to reach a global total of $18.1 billion in 2020 for online TV and video advertising.

SVOD is forecast to climb from $1.06 billion in 2010 to $7.65 billion in 2014, rising to $16.77 billion in 2020. This means that SVOD will account for 40 percent of total OTT revenues in 2020, up from 27 percent in 2010.
