TORONTO: Already one of the world’s largest independent music publishers, ole has been on an “aggressive acquisitions path,” according to David Weitzman, the company’s Los Angeles-based senior director of business development and operations.

“ole has music publishing co-ownership or administration relationships and creative relationships with over 40 TV production companies, including DHX Media, Cineflix, Nelvana, Cookie Jar, Scholastic, WGBH, Discovery Communications and many more,” says Weitzman. “We also have a significant music production library called Music Box with global reach, and we added this to our service offering for our producer clients. We augment all of this with access to a 40,000-song catalogue of mainstream hits.”

ole allows producers to maximize their “non-core music publishing assets” by providing administrative and management services. “We add value to the IP through these services,” Weitzman notes. “We are also able to monetize the music publishing assets so production companies can invest in their core activity—making great television.”

He continues, “I can’t stress enough how ole is able to maximize value from TV production companies’ music publishing assets. I have signed several deals at ole, and without exception, the collections have increased dramatically in every case. It gives me tremendous satisfaction to sell companies on a service that really delivers.”

Discussing ole’s growth plans, Weitzman notes that the company has “been on an aggressive acquisitions path and we will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. ole’s reach is global and we are committed to finding the most talented and successful production companies globally.”
