LONDON: Nurse Jackie, distributed by CBS Studios International, will move to Sky Atlantic for its third and future seasons, following a two-season run in the U.K. on BBC Two.

The British pay-TV platform has scooped up the exclusive free and basic U.K. rights to seasons three and onwards of the Showtime comedy after snatching up the rights to Glee, which previously ran on Channel 4 and E4, for Sky 1. Nurse Jackie stars Edie Falco as well as Eve Best, Peter Facinelli, Merritt Wever and Anna Deavere Smith, among others. Sky Atlantic launches season three July 5 at 10 p.m.

“Sky Atlantic HD has already established itself as home to the most iconic, exceptional and talked about shows, and Nurse Jackie is the perfect new addition to our slate," said Elaine Pyke, director of programs at Sky Atlantic HD. "It’s sharp, witty and has an edge which we’re sure our viewers will love. We look forwarding to welcoming Jackie’s fans, old and new."

Sarah Wright, controller of acquisitions at Sky Entertainment, noted, "This deal with CBS Studios International continues our promise to bring the best content possible to our customers across all of Sky’s entertainment channels.”

Stephen Tague, senior VP for Europe at CBS Studios International, added, “CBS Studios International is pleased to continue its relationship with Sky. Nurse Jackie is an excellent fit for Sky Atlantic HD and will enhance an already high quality schedule.”
