Nominees Announced for International Digital Emmys

NEW YORK: Productions from Lebanon, Turkey and Brazil are among the nominees for this year’s International Digital Emmy Awards, which will be presented at MIPTV on April 4.

The three categories—Digital Program: Children & Young People, Digital Program: Fiction and Digital Program: Non-Fiction—feature a total of 12 nominees from eight countries (Brazil, Canada, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, The Netherlands, Turkey and the U.K.).

"One need look no further than the stunning geographic spread of this year’s nominees to understand the growth and power of digital media," said Bruce Paisner, the president and CEO of The International Academy. "We congratulate our very diverse nominees for their achievements in this burgeoning worldwide industry."

Up for the Digital Program: Children & Young People category are Battlefront II from Raw TV/Airlock for Channel 4; Paint Planet from Feelgood SFT and NRK; Reservoir Hill: Everyone Lies from KHF Media, TVNZ and NZ on Air; and Tilki from Zorzanaat Production and TRT Çocuk.

Digital Program: Fiction nods went to the Dutch Collapsus: The Energy Risk Conspiracy from Submarine Channel and VPRO; Nokia’s The Conspiracy for Good from the U.K.; Lebanon’s Shankaboot from Batoota Flms and BBC World Service Trust; and TV Globo’s The Voices of Araguaia.

In Digital Program: Non-Fiction, the contenders are Embarrassing Bodies: Live from Maverick Television and Channel 4; TV Globo’s Globo Amazônia: The Geoglyphs; NFB Canada’s HIGHRISE: Out My Window; and X Factor Beastar from FremantleMedia and TV2 Norway.

The International Academy will also present the Pioneer Prize to Jon M. Chu for creating The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.
