Nickelodeon Goes to Black to Promote Exercise and Play

NEW YORK, September 19:
Nickelodeon will go off the air for three hours on September 30 to celebrate
its third annual Worldwide Day of Play, part of its
“Let’s Just Play” campaign that encourages children to have active and healthy
lifestyles.

From noon to
3:00 p.m. on September 30, Nickelodeon will go to black as some 860 events will
take place throughout the U.S. with more than 250,000 kids participating. When
the channel resumes programming it will air the finale of the Let’s Just
Play Go Healthy Celebration
.

The Let’s
Just Play Go Healthy Challenge
has followed four real-life kids over a six-month period in the
quest to make their lives, schools and communities healthier, and documented
their progress on the channel. In addition, some 140,000 children have
participated in the 2006 Go Healthy Challenge by being more active and
improving their eating habits.

Worldwide Day
of Play will also kick off the 2007 Let’s Just Play Go Healthy Challenge campaign. Nickelodeon and the Alliance
for a Healthier Generation—an initiative between the American Heart
Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation—will launch a
nationwide search for the new Go Healthy Challengers to be featured in next
year’s on-air campaign.

From September
30 to October 20, kids across the U.S will be encouraged to visit
www.Nick.com/LetsJustPlay to find out information on how to become a Go Healthy
Challenger on-air in 2007. Kids can send in video submissions to Nickelodeon
for consideration, and share why and how they want to “Go Healthy.”

This year
Nickelodeon’s digital networks, Nicktoons Network and Nick G.A.S., will also be
going dark for Worldwide Day of Play. Additionally, www.Nick.com will feature
messaging encouraging kids to “get up, get out, and go play.”
