Nickelodeon Emerging Markets Adds to Executive Team

LONDON, October 2: As part of its continued growth across
Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Russia, MTV Networks
International (MTVNI) has made three key appointments within the Nickelodeon
Emerging Markets team.

Alex Chien joins the London office as head of Nickelodeon
Emerging Markets, charged with managing existing Nickelodeon channels in the
region and focusing on expanding the network’s brand presence and developing
the brand for multiple platforms. He will report to Bhavneet Singh, the
managing director and senior VP of Emerging Markets at MTVNI. Previously, Chien
served as VP of creative and content for Nickelodeon Networks Asia, as well as
played an instrumental role in the launch of the channel and branded block
operations in China, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan and New Zealand. Prior to this, Chien
was the head of production and programming/executive producer at Walt Disney
Television International (Asia Pacific), based in Beijing.

Erinn Thompson has been appointed to the newly created role
of program and acquisition manager for Nickelodeon Emerging Markets, also based
in London. Thompson will oversee all programming, scheduling and acquisitions
for Nickelodeon in the region, reporting to Chien. She joins the company from a
stint as acquisition supervisor at Disney Channels UK, Scandinavia, Middle East
and Emerging Markets.

In another newly created position, Lisa Wakefield has been
named the marketing executive for Nickelodeon Emerging Markets, also reporting
to Chien. Based in London, Wakefield will handle all marketing activity and
creative across the region, working closely with local offices to coordinate
the execution of brand-marketing initiatives. She previously served as a
marketing executive at Zonemedia, a leading international broadcaster and
distributor of thematic channels.

Together, Chien, Thompson and Wakefield will work across all
Nickelodeon’s complementary business lines, driving Nickelodeon’s award-winning
global franchises such as Dora the Explorer,
SpongeBob SquarePants and Avatar across the region.
