Fresh TV to Develop Live-Action Film for TELETOON’s 6Teen

TORONTO, February 13:
Canadian production outfit Fresh TV is in development with TELETOON Canada and
Nelvana, with a grant from the Canadian Television Fund, to develop a live-action feature film based on the hit series 6Teen.

Tom McGillis and Jennifer
Pertsch, the creators of 6Teen, are
currently writing the script, with principal photography set to begin in fall
2009 and casting to commence later this year.

The animated sitcom
centers on six teens who work in a shopping mall, and the series is regularly a
top-rated show with children aged 6 to 11 on TELETOON. 6Teen was originally produced by Nelvana, with Fresh TV
producing later episodes. Nelvana Enterprises distributes 6Teen worldwide and will also handle distribution of the
feature.

6Teen is a smash with our viewers,” said Michael
Goldsmith, the director of original content for TELETOON Canada. “A perennial
hit with audiences, the show is a great fit for our first foray into live
action. I can’t wait to see what the 6Teen gang will look like, as Jude would say, it’s going to be ‘Sweeeet.’”
