Nick Latin America Launches Telenovela

LAS VEGAS, January 30: On March 3, Nickelodeon Latin America will debut its first youth-targeted telenovela in the region, Karkú, which it acquired from TVN Chile.

Kark?/i> is a coming-of-age drama that follows the adventures of a group of teenagers as they handle friendships, love and the challenges that come with growing up. The series will air Monday through Friday at 10 p.m.

Starring Constanza Piccoli, Karkú centers on Emilia, a thirteen-year-old girl from a small city in northern Chile who is sent by her parents to live in Santiago with her aunt, uncle and cousin Lucas. At school, Emilia meets  her eighth-grade classmates who also become her closest friends. Together, these six friends will engage in a variety of adventures in an effort to raise money for a year-end trip.

“We are very happy to present Karkú because it’s a Latin American show which highlights the reality, surroundings and language of kids living in Latin America, but at the same time recognizes universal values such as true friendship and team work,” said Tatiana Rodriguez, the VP of programming and creative strategy for Nickelodeon Latin America. “For us, it is important to support the creativity and production from Latin America and this telenovela is an example of the amazing programming and production that comes out of the region.”
