NGCI Chronicles Coronation of Malaysia’s Thirteenth King

KUALA LUMPUR,
August 28: Becoming a King, the first of two high-definition documentaries produced from a fund
established by National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) and the
National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS), premiered this week
on National Geographic Channel in Asia.

This one-hour
special looks at the coronation of Malaysia’s 13th King, Yang
di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, and explores his public and
private life in the last few days before the ceremony. It was produced by the
Malaysian companies VHQ TV and Cosmo Vision, who were guided by Nat Geo
producers as part of the NGCI-FINAS High Definition Documentary Fund 2006.

In conjunction
with Malaysia’s 50th National Day celebrations, Becoming a King premiered August 27 exclusively on
National Geographic Channel in Asia, with encore presentations set for August
31 at 10 p.m. and September 1 at 12 p.m. It will also be showcased on NGCI’s
global television network of 250 million homes in 166 countries.
