Next Gen Global Media Network Looks to Connect Under-40 Execs

PBS Distribution executives Sabrina Hall Aguirre and Luke Oliver have launched a networking association for global media and distribution executives in their 20s and 30s, with the first event planned for MIPCOM.

The Next Gen Global Media Network is aimed at connecting under-40 executives working in international distribution, production and acquisitions, providing an informal space to build long-lasting connections.

It’s also an opportunity for us to support one another, collaborate, spark meaningful conversation and lay the groundwork for working together in the future,” said Hall Aguirre, sales manager at PBS Distribution.

“Over the past few years, Luke [marketing manager at PBS Distribution] and I have attended markets like MIPCOM and noticed a clear gap: there’s no real space for professionals in their 20s and 30s to connect,” Hall Aguirre added. “MIPCOM has always been known for high-level dealmaking and long-standing relationships—many of today’s senior execs built their networks at MIPCOM decades ago when they were just starting out, often alongside peers of a similar age. But for early-career professionals entering the industry today, it can be much harder to find community in that same way.”

Hall Aguirre and Oliver will host a meetup during MIPCOM at Groovz Cannes on October 14, are creating a WhatsApp community and have launched a LinkedIn group.

“Our goal is to bring everyone together in a dedicated digital space where we can stay connected year-round and plan for in-person meetups at markets,” said Oliver. “We’ve only been promoting the event for a few days, and the early response has made one thing clear: there’s a real appetite among younger media professionals for a space to connect, share experiences, build long-term industry relationships and support one another as we navigate a rapidly evolving industry and help shape its emerging trends—together.”
