MUNICH: Continuing to grow its reach across Scandinavia, the hit SevenOne International format Benidorm Bastards has scored pickups in Norway and Denmark.

Under the local title Bingobanden, the series will launch on TV Norway on March 9, 2011 at 9:30 p.m. In Denmark, the show, which will be titled Rollator Banden, will debut in March as well, on SBS Denmark. The local Swedish adaptation, Pensionärsjävlar, has been on Kanal 5 since November 1. All Scandinavian adaptations are aired weekly and are produced by Mastiff.

Caroline Kusser, the regional sales director and head of format acquisitions at SevenOne International, commented: “I am more than thrilled by the success of Benidorm Bastards in Sweden, where the show scored an all time high in its 10 p.m. time slot. It’s the hottest comedy format right now.”

Lars Beckung, the program director at Kanal 5 in Sweden, added: “We love it. It’s warm and edgy at the same time and empowers the main characters in a unique way. It’s strong both in our young demos and charmingly also our strongest 60+ show.”

Eivind Landsverk, the program director at TV Norway, said: “This is a great format with huge potential.”

Anne Christensen, the program director at SBS Denmark, continued: “A very fresh and different take on candid camera with easy access and high potential.”
