New Programming EVP for Azteca América

LOS ANGELES, October 15: Alberto Santini Lara has been named executive VP of programming for Azteca América, and will be based in Mexico City and Los Angeles to serve as a link between the U.S. broadcaster and its parent network, TV Azteca.

He will oversee strategic planning, development and acquisition of new properties, partnerships with producers, production companies and filmmakers, as well as supervise all on-air promotions and Mexican-based productions. Lara will report directly to Adrian Steckel, the network’s CEO.

Lara previously held a number of positions in areas of programming, strategic planning and promotions at Univision Television Group. He is also credited with developing the Latino version of Desperate Housewives (Amas de Casa Desesperadas) and Selena Live.

“In addition to his years of entertainment experience, Alberto’s intelligence, industry knowledge and ability to function seamlessly north and south of the border is critical to our mission of providing the best alternative programming in the U.S. Hispanic market today,” said Steckel. “From his base in Mexico, he will be better positioned to work hand-in-hand with producers as they develop programming.”
