New DVD Deals for Southern Star

SYDNEY, August 7: Southern
Star International has secured DVD deals on its hit kids’ property Sea
Princesses with Studio Canal
France and Tycoon Mexico.

Produced by Southern Star
Entertainment and Neptuno Films Production in association with Flamma Films,
the series has sold to France (Piwi), Latin America (Discovery Kids), Italy
(RAI and Raisat), Ireland (RTE), Israel (IETV), India (Sun Kids Channel),
Singapore (Kids Central) and South Africa (M-Net). It is based on the original
book series Princesas do Mar
created by Brazilian author Fabio Yabu and was commissioned by the Seven
Network in Australia.

Tycoon Entertainment
Group’s VP of acquisitions and international, Rosinda Garcia, said of the deal:
“Tycoon has specialized in the preschool and kids market and define the kind of
product that they offer to their customers as ‘media that matters’: quality
edutainment properties that offer good values and help kids to develop
different knowledge areas as well as entertaining themselves. This is why we
love Sea Princesses, it is a
great property, kids love it and in a complicated world like ours, we can offer
a safe haven for kids to increase their fantasy and enjoy simple and lovely
characters and situations.”

Studio Canal France also
scored the DVD rights to seasons one through four (a total of 15 TV movies) of Wire
In The Blood. The hit ITV crime
drama franchise stars Robson Green as clinical psychologist Dr. Tony Hill.
