New Anime Block to Launch on Propeller TV in the U.K.

HOUSTON, May 14: ADV Films has reached an agreement with the
U.K. channel Propeller TV for the launch of a new two-hour weekend anime block
that will feature programming from its U.S.-based subsidiary, Anime Network.

This marks the first transatlantic programming deal for
Anime Network, which was launched in North America in late 2002 and reaches
more than 40 million households.

The new programming block will debut on Propeller TV on June
3, airing from 8-10 p.m. on Sundays. The block will feature a lineup of
animated series from the Anime Network that includes Coyote Ragtime Show, about the government-issued bombing of Planet
Graceland; Neon Genesis Evangelion, which
is set in the year 2015 and revolves around a 14-year-old who must defend the
rebuilt city of New Tokyo-3; Guyver: The Bio-Boosted Armour, about a sinister brotherhood known as the Chronos
Corporation, and Elfen
Lied,
about a psychopathic killer and a
helpless child with no memories that are both contained within the same body.

“We are undoubtedly thrilled at the opportunity to reach and
entertain Propeller TV’s U.K. viewers through this very cool programming
block,” said Stacy Dodson, Anime Network’s director of programming. “Propeller
already speaks to an audience rife with pop-culture sensibilities, so the
lineup we’ve crafted should resonate well.”
