NDR, Ki.Ka, Five On Board for New Bert and Ernie Claymation

NEW YORK, February 7: Sesame Workshop is partnering with NDR
and Ki.Ka in Germany and Five’s preschool block Milkshake! in the U.K. to produce two seasons of The
Adventures of Bert and Ernie
, a claymation
spin on two of Sesame Street’s
most popular characters.

The first season of the series will be available in March
2008, while season two will be available in March 2009. Florence-based Misseri
Studio will animate the show, which qualifies as European content. Presales for
The Adventures of Bert and Ernie have
been made to ABC in Australia, Cartoon Network India, DR-TV in Denmark, Disney
Asia, Disney Spain, HOP in Israel, NPS/Zeppelin in the Netherlands, NRK in
Norway and SVT in Sweden.

Each of the 26×5-minute episodes per season will feature
Bert and Ernie recalling stories sparked by photos and memorabilia in their
scrapbook, and will transport viewers into a vibrant world of the duo’s
imagination where they defy the limits of their apartment by running, jumping,
and flying in fantastical settings along with Bert's pet pigeon Bernice and
Ernie's Rubber Duckie.

"We are proud to partner with TV leaders NDR and Five,
and a dynamic group of broadcasters, to bring a whole new dimension and energy
to the wit and charm of these classic and beloved characters," said Terry
Fitzpatrick, Sesame Workshop's executive VP of distribution.
